Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve & Seal Rookery

The Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve is a sprawling 52-acre open space that offers some of the most breathtaking coastal views in Southern California. The preserve features a network of flat, easy-to-navigate trails that wind through coastal sage scrub and eucalyptus groves, making it an ideal spot for hiking, jogging, and bird watching.

The highlight of the Bluffs is undoubtedly the Harbor Seal Rookery. Located at the southern end of the preserve, it's a protected beach where harbor seals come to rest, mate, and give birth — one of only four remaining rookeries on the Southern California coast, and completely free to visit.
